Post production studio is using DaVinci Resolve Studio for grading andfinishing and Blackmagic Cloud Store network storage for collaboration within the facility.
Fremont, CA, USA - Blackmagic Design today announced that BSQUARED, a new post production studio in Glasgow, has implemented DaVinci Resolve Studio for all aspects of its grading and finishing services.
The facility was founded by former Blazing Griffin duo Colin Brown and Jon Bruce, whose credits include “Vigil,” “The Tattooist of Auschwitz,” and “Shetland,” to name a few. Producer Sean Ewins joined the team, having previously worked at Time Based Arts, Blazing Griffin, and Revenant.
“Jon and I always felt our individual skills complimented the running of a facility,” begins Brown. “It makes sense to create a boutique, creative led facility where every decision is made to improve the work, whether that’s people or technology.”
Creative flexibility and collaboration topped the list of priorities when designing the facility. “DaVinci Resolve has been the cornerstone of our creative workflow for years, and we’ve come to trust it, making it the natural choice. The biggest challenges were designing the suite’s layout and ensuring a good client experience,” Brown reveals.

He adds, “Our focus is on client attended sessions, ensuring they have a good experience and that the quality of work is high, so every decision had to support that.”
BSQUARED built its two grading suites around the Mac Studio M2 Ultra, each with its own DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel and DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor.
“We have built a facility designed for 2024 and beyond, incorporating the latest technology. From QD OLED monitoring for consistent display, to DaVinci Resolve’s Remote Monitoring for simultaneous color accurate viewing. This works perfectly on the iPad whether you are in the room or if we need to share the project with a DP, director or producer remotely.”
To facilitate collaboration within the facility between the grading and online suites, BSQUARED is deploying a Blackmagic Cloud Store network storage solution. “Not only does this mean we can share access to projects and media amongst the team, but we can also bring in external VFX vendors where needed and access talent and skills remotely, wherever that is,” Bruce says.
As well as building the best creative team and a diverse pipeline of projects, the facility is also committed to supporting and training the next generation of post professionals. “We’re highly collaborative and want to help the industry grow in Scotland which will benefit us and other facilities in the long term,” he concludes.
